Give stocks or bonds

A charitable contribution of long-term appreciated securities — i.e. stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have realized significant appreciation over time — is one of the most tax-efficient of all ways to give.

If you’ve held an appreciated stock or mutual fund for more than one year, you can donate those securities to Truthout and receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities, eliminating any capital gains assessments on the future sale of the securities (in some cases, more than 20%).
