Karl Rove has a problem. Mr. Rove, also known as "Bush's Brain", has for years used gay marriage as one of the great Republican wedge issues: Bashing gays and lesbians around the country, energizing his "base" among right wing evangelicals and creating a feverish conservative turnout at election time.

Conventional political wisdom holds that the Republicans need to change the political discussion from the Foley scandals to other major political issues. This view overlooks the fact that Republican candidates are facing a "perfect political storm" of news developments in the closing weeks of the 2006 election cycle.

It is the fault of George Soros.

Men and women of faith should be deeply offended by the phoniness and hypocrisy of certain people who betray the most basic principles of integrity and faith to put partisan politics ahead of the safety of abused young people.

The major number one excuse this administration uses over and over again is "nobody ever anticipated Iraq insurgencies, hurricane Katrina, planes hitting a building."

What's next? how about not enough prison cells for criminals. There is plenty of evidence to prove counter to their claims. Time and time again this administration refuses to face the facts. Bush is in a state of denial and the next catastrophe is right around the corner. They will tell you they are working hard and they have difficult job.

Let's be realistic they are only concerned with campaign contributions and what business they could lobby for when they leave office.

So, waterboarding is now OK. So is the suspension of one of our basic rights of freedom -- the Writ of Habeas Corpus. Habeas Corpus, according to the U.S. Constitution, can only be suspended in cases of invasion or rebellion. Our Supreme Court has held, "habeas corpus is the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action."
