Besieged Blackwater Founder Testifies Before Congressional Committee

Erik Prince claims a "rush to judgment"
Which is comical and complete
Rubbish because Blackwater in every
Probe has been dragging its feet.

I'd be willing to place a bet when Prince
Envisions himself in heaven
He hopes to bend rules and be allowed
To bring his AK-47.

During Hearing, California Congressman Brands Blackwater As Having Strong GOP Ties

What an unintended result!
What a delicious mistake!
The fact this pol's a Republican
Is just the Issa on the cake.

Mary Shaw: A very expensive quagmire

by Mary Shaw

Last week, the White House sent Defense Secretary Robert Gates to Capitol Hill to lobby for increased funding to keep the killing going on in Iraq for another year. The updated price tag: over $190 billion. For one year. And for what?

by Burt Hall

To Members of Congress:

The basic problem is that Democrats have not presented a vision of how to replace our presence with a force that could maintain stability in the region for a period of years. A distinct possibility is an all-Muslim force under the UN flag, supported by both trained Iraqis and militias. Sadr has already agreed to support UN troops with his militia if Americans (will only) leave. With a good Democratic vision of how to maintain stability, here are four options to force the President to remove our troops:

Don't laugh at them, Hillary, bite their heads off!

Why didn't you take a chomp out of Chris Wallace, as your husband did a while back?

You burst out laughing when Wallace asked you, on Fox News last week, why you're so "hyperpartisan." Your aides said later that, coming from Fox News, his question was pretty funny and merited your laughter.

No longer a ‘hero,’ John McCain has become a pathetic pandering politician, seeking to ingratiate himself with a bunch of people who don’t like him to begin with! Forgoing his integrity, he collaborated with George Bush and instead of special treatment, he’s finding that no one really likes a weasel!

Dr. J.'s Commentary: SS Guards at Play

Recently, a fascinating photo album was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. It was found by a U.S. counterintelligence officer in an abandoned apartment in Frankfurt, Germany after the end of World War II in 1945. (This meant that whoever assembled the book took it with them as they fled the camp before it was liberated by the Red Army in February 1945.) He kept it hidden away all of these years. It was sent to the Museum in December 2006. It is essentially a scrap book of photos of SS male and female officers and ranks at play outside Auschwitz in 1944. (Here is a short slide show with narrative.)

When I heard about last week's ostensibly successful test of the missile defense shield, I thought back 45 years to the Cuban missile crisis of October 1962, when we feared ourselves defenseless from Russian nuclear rockets just a hundred miles offshore.
