  • In Phoenix, Trump Says "Love" but Spews Racism

Trump takes advantage of a popular misconception about racism -- that it is something held in the heart. In reality it is a system of oppression that promotes power and privilege.

  • Why Robert E. Lee's Character Is Irrelevant

The state of California is expanding access birth control. Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2348 into law on September 22nd, granting registered nurses, certified nurse-midwives and physicians' assistants the power to dispense birth control, easing access for those who want to obtain the pill.

Via The L.A. Times:

Brown signed the bill Saturday morning at Planned Parenthood's Los Angeles headquarters in South Los Angeles and cast the event as a reaffirmation of "every woman's basic constitutional rights."

Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards applauded the new law and in a news release said that "by enacting this bill, California is, once again, setting an example of national leadership at a critical time when access to health care is under attack."

The move is expected to create shorter lines and wait periods at reproductive health clinics.
