Dr. Rafil Dhafir is in his ninth year of imprisonment in the U.S. for the crime of sending aid, through his charity Help the Needy, to starving Iraqi civilians during the brutal U.S. and U.K.-sponsored UN embargo on that country. He is serving 22 years in a special Communications Management Unit that houses almost exclusively Muslim and/or Arab men. Chris Cook of Gorrilla Radio interviews Linda Taffs, a Victoria-based peace and justice activist and founding member of the Campaign to End the Sanctions Against the People of Iraq; and Katherine Hughes, a free-lance journalist and potter, about Dr. Rafil Dhafir’s case. Katherine attended almost all of the 14-week trial of Dr. Dhafir and has spent the last seven years trying to educate the public about his case, and the plight of Islamic charities in post-9/11 U.S. She has a website dedicated to Dr. Dhafir’s case and the preservation of civil liberties for all: https://www.dhafirtrial.net/
