Reclaiming and Revolting Bodies: “Fat: The Play“

In the summer of 2014, PLUMP, a collective of self-identified fat, queer, femme performers, writers and community members in Austin, Texas, came together to vision, heal and create. Out came Fat: The Play, a performance piece that shares collective members’ experiences with body oppression, racism, misogyny and classism. The powerful, intersectional and ever-evolving work of PLUMP continues to confront systemic and interpersonal fat-hatred by centering the narratives of those who it impacts most.
