Dean Baker: China's economy had become a major engine for world growth. While predictions of an economic collapse in China will almost certainly prove wrong, it does seem likely that its growth going forward will be considerably slower.
The conflict in Syria has destroyed much of the country's water infrastructure, leaving 5 million people suffering from a critical water shortage.
